25 July - 3 August 2004The flight from
Vancouver to London was unfortunately spoilt by an old "cow" who decided
that she didn't care about any other passengers in the vicinity and so
left her blind open and her light on for most of the night, despite
being asked by a number of passengers and the flight attendants to close
it. As a result we didn't get too much sleep.
Piper was at the airport to meet us, fortunately all
the luggage fitted into his car and so we made our way to his house
where we stayed for the next few days. Most of these days were spent
catching up on the washing, lazing around, visiting the local village
(Ashford) and visiting James and Kate in London. Jade finally had some
space to crawl around and she fully utilised the time to get around as
much as she could.
It was then off to visit Uncle David and Auntie Di in
preparation for Jill and Matt's wedding. On the Friday we went off to
the science Museum in London where we met Gran and Gramps. The museum
was really nice because they had a lot of interactive things to do, we
saw how vacuum cleaners work, how a camera works, steam engines, we saw
a hologram, and all sorts of other things.
The wedding was a really nice occasion, and it was
good to meet all my cousins, aunts and uncles, and other members of my
family. The reception was held at Matt's parents house.
After the wedding we went back to Piper's for the
evening before leaving for Scotland the next day.
In Scotland we arrived to traditional Scottish
weather, low cloud and drizzle. Gran and Gramps have already had to
adjust their house because of Jade, you leave her for a few minutes and
she is off exploring. She can crawl really fast now.
4 August - 12 August 2004
The Scottish
weather continued for most of our stay here. Dad and Gramps were going
to go fishing but the weather unfortunately put paid to that idea (or
maybe it is just that they are wimpish). Most of the time was just spent
relaxing, and playing on the computer games Dad bought for me. We did
manage to do a bit of travelling to Edinburgh, St Andrews and a few
other places around here, we even managed to spent a few hours on the
beach.
There is a little park down the road which Dad
and I go to when it is not raining. Jade has really enjoyed having the
room to crawl around, she also spends a lot of time practising her
standing.
We leave for Johannesburg tomorrow ending
the first part of our trip.
